CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION ASSOCIATION

Founded in 1975, CAPA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and treating child abuse, neglect and family trauma through education, advocacy and support services. Each year, CAPA serves as a source of healing, hope and strength for nearly 2,000 children and adults in Jackson County, Missouri, and the surrounding Kansas City metropolitan area.

Eligibility FAQs

Q: Who is eligible to apply for Crux for a Cause?

A: Nonprofits based in Kansas City or with significant operations in the area are eligible to apply. We prioritize organizations that align with our mission of community impact and collaboration.

Q: Do we need to have a specific project in mind to apply?

A: While you don’t need to have a specific project in mind, it certainly helps! We work with winners to identify your needs and tailor our marketing services to support your goals.

Q: Is there a deadline to apply?

A: Yes, applications are open annually, and we encourage you to apply early. This year’s deadline is Oct. 31 at midnight.

Q: What is the selection process like?

A: After reviewing all applications, our team will select 4 finalists that best fit our criteria. Selected organizations will be contacted to pitch the Crux team on why they would be the best fit for Crux for a Cause, and the Crux team then votes for the winner.

Q: Can nonprofits outside of Kansas City apply?

A: We do require that non-profits be based in the KC region, with added preference given to those located downtown.

Q: What kind of marketing services do you provide?

A: We offer a full range of marketing services, including branding, digital strategy, content creation, and more. Each nonprofit will receive a customized marketing plan designed to meet their specific needs.

Crux for a Cause 2025 Application

Interested organizations should fill out the form below and submit materials digitally by October 31. Winners will be announced by year-end, and kick-off will be scheduled for early January.
